added to the shatyscape drawing and turned it into a poster for mile's band tda

they're playing at the star and shadow (in newcastle) which is a fantastic place, i went to see tda there last november.

some portraits of insects - really beautiful and bizarre - i watched half of life in the undergrowth the other night, do insects strike anyone else as looking like hordes of tiny alien machines - none of their body parts seem likely...but then when given a description of what it all does it all looks so incredibly functional  :/

just stumbled across this fantastic character

a [link] to his resume/homepage. aside from seeming an all round very intelligent and funny guy with quite a wide ranging curiosity for the world (his list of interests ranges between glassblowing, stand up improv comedy and topological puzzles) he's also come up with curving folded origami - which simply put is fucking amazing.

does it remind anyone else of a sweet pastry?

his origami is being exhibited at MOMA in New York now

i challenge you not to shudder whilst reading this article. can't these people sense the profound and bizarre wrongness about the event?

totally different world.

one choice quote :

“If we don’t get it from home, we will go out to the culture and get it from them.”

(also as chris t pointed out; what the fuck is 'the culture'?) ++

music for the day: datach'i's 'mousetrap' played in a soundproofed room three doors away, whilst rachel stevens 'so good' is drummed out without any bass on a poor quality tape running on an original sony walkman.

[i suppose the nepalese did give it quite a good finish]

relaxing breezy sounds of the forest in autumn sir? perhaps 3 or 4 o clock in the afternoon? or would sir prefer dawn on the scottish glens?

what scent would sir like? the sound of roast peaches or the subtle textures of a whale mourning?  perhaps the light grain of a divorcee in wiggan slowly accepting that they really are alone?

no matter sir- just the usual then? chocoloate dripping around a disused well on the russian steppes?

now for breakfast; crumpets liberally growing from the bushes sir? no couples dogging here sir i can assure you of that [i bloody well hope not]. well sir is a tad fractious today, sir, if i may be so bold sir, what seems to be troubling one's mind? perhaps sir would like to listen to the singing jam tree for 3 or 4 minutes followed by a spin in the centrifugal honey spindle?

i've checked sir's diary, no appointments today sir! free day! fancy that eh? no appointments in fact, if i'm quite correct, til wednesday when the brigadir is coming round, but its his nappy day, so i should suggest steerings ones eyes away from below the midrift, it might upsets sir's temperament!

lets take a walk down the green corridor- it smells of hammers smoked in juniper berries today sir. Sir shouldn't worry about the nepalese, they've left us for the time being, they're chewing leaves of the hillside and muttering about pig iron. I should imagine they'll be busy with that for some time.

[it doesn't matter what he says regarding the nepalese- i can still here the mewing sounds of a disused dog behind door number 7]
